About Stitch
Our Vision
Stitch is fundamentally about connecting people, our ideas, and our technology. We believe in wholeness, and stand against an increasingly fragmented world. It often feels like we each live in our own minds, cut off from others and the world around us. Too often, the effect of technology is to reinforce that feeling. We believe that it's possible for technology to do the opposite. We believe in the promise of the internet as a global network of exchange, and we believe in the promise of AI as a means to integrate information, and to make it accessible to you no matter who or where you are, or your background.
AI and Technology Today
Despite our felt optimism associated with modern digital technology, today's tech industry represents a distortion of our collective vision of a world where technology brings us together and amplifies our best intentions and understandings. Instead, it feels like technology drives us apart, isolating us from each other, confusing and frightening us.
Tech monopolies and their misanthropic tendencies create material harm today, and AI products represent a striking extrapolation of the same trendline. Harms range from medical misdiagnosis, to the pollution of our digital space with incorrect information and fabricated media, to the well-documented mental health effects of interaction with AI, leading in harrowing cases to psychotic breaks, mania, delusion, and suicide. The consequences of the mass deployment of AI models are felt by everyone who uses the internet today.
The Future of AI
The future of AI will be multimodal, agentic, and open. There will be more than a few mainstream alternative models which excel in different contexts and domains. Some models will be publicly accessible, while others will be private, with bespoke requirements and access to custom data or integrations. Model capabilities will not only continue to increase, but their rate of improvement will continue to accelerate too. We will continue to see not only increasing capabilities within today's domains, but extension of capabilities into novel domains and modes of interaction.
This recursive improvement will always need a human in the loop, to guide the model and its actions toward ethical, productive activities and away from harmful ones. Stitch positions itself as a space where this alignment can occur by providing mechanisms for managing and monitoring model deployments collaboratively. The human in the loop is also vital for minimizing the disruptive effects of white collar automation on the labor economy.
The Future of Stitch
Stitch is in its early phases today. We are a small team, itself accelerated and amplified by AI. If any of the above resonates with you, join our community on Discord or Reddit, join the waitlist, apply to beta test the app, or send us a message. We would love to hear from you.
